Malta has an ever growing problem of animals getting abandoned which is only getting worse. As of recently, I’ve even got to learn that there have been several foreign animal rescue organisations that exported horses, dogs and cats out of Malta for rehoming. I had never heard of something like this before.
The legal situation has only got worse under Labour with individuals now also being allowed to make personal zoos out of their crammed-pseudo-villas and farms among the highly-densely populated towns and villages. The politicians responsible are as corrupt, criminal and idiotic as they can be. Minster for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animals, Anton Refalo was allowed to get away with stealing a British-era marker while his deputy, Parliamentary Secretary for Animals and Fisheries Alicia Bugeja Said was appointed despite having had her election campaign funded by the local tuna lobby.
It’s quite in character of a criminal government, really, with grandmas getting mauled to death by pitbulls in the street, and the Minister signing away permits for the keeping of exotic animals that are then visited by Labour Party politicians for photo-shoots. Jungle Rules indeed.
