The President of the European Parliament argued that as the presiding chair over other MEPs, regulations do not allow her to publicly debate with other MEPs during election campaigns, especially given that she is the MEPs’ own regulator in Parliament. She explained a point I made incorrectly in this article.
Yet, she still showed, unwittingly, that Labour can be defeated on very different terms other than its own. Roberta Metsola rightly pointed out that she wasn’t covered by the public broadcaster, and all the while, the Labour Party’s propaganda outlets regurgitated lies and misinformation about her on a daily basis. It had zero effect as Roberta Metsola will still be the candidate getting most of the votes.
