We are looking closely on Prime Minister’s Robert Abela upcoming decision on whether to renew Angelo Gafa’s contract as Police Commissioner, but apart from this very important and crucial appointment, there is still pending the appointment of Deputy Attorney General.
Rumours have long been circulating that the post of Deputy Attorney General was earmarked for previous Police Inspector, Geoffrey Azzopardi given that he is currently, the only and most senior Maltese prosecutor available outside the Attorney-General’s Office. The AG’s Office is currently bereft of senior prosecutors.
There are various names being floated around as an alternative to Angelo Gafa but it is not clear whether Robert Abela is going to replace him in the first place.
