Police Commissioner Angelo Gafa, whose contract renewal is still pending by the OPM, was in Court, yesterday, explaining why he didn’t investigate Joseph Muscat. He spent a Court session gratifying him and and excusing his impunity from the Police with pseudo-technical excuses that we, who worked in the government or the top echelons of the civil-service would at best consider suspicious, and at worse, the drivel of an imbecile who doesn’t want to do his job.
Among the many ridiculous things he said was that he couldn’t investigate Joseph Muscat because the experts of the Inquiring Magistrate didn’t give him the “expert analysis”. This, assuming, after the Police, would have made the heavy0lifting themselves and acquired the data through third-parties and financial institutions by the order of the Magistrate.
But Angelo Gafa can’t make the expert analysis. The civil-servant is only there to stamp the approval by order of the superior.
Of course, the Magisterial Inquiry doesn’t preclude the Police from investigating, and in fact, it is only the last resort of all layers of authority that are supposed to protect us. Supposedly, the Police conduct investigations on any alleged crime on their own initiative. They don’t need to be told by anyone what to do and they themselves are supposed to be the best experts on crime. Angelo Gafa even has experience in the Secret Services.
But he can’t do expert analysis. Someone please do the expert analysis for him and send it to his email. Ask his wife or his personal assistant to hold his hand at work as well as he seems to be needing a lot of support.
Also, I wonder why no one trusts Angelo Gafa. Maybe, it’s because they see him siding with the wrong side as the Police Commissioner? Maybe, the press should ask this to him because he doesn’t reply to my messages.
