European leaders have confirmed they will be nominating Ursula von der Leyen for EU Commissioner President with Kaja Kallas being nominated for EU High Representative. António Costa is set to be President of the European Council. Robert Metsola is also to be nominated for Parliament President.
The nomination of Kaja Kallas as EU High Representative marks a shift towards a stronger stance on Russia that succeeds Josep Borrell’s mild and complacent approach.
The nominations will have to be approved by the European Parliament.
