The professional Eritrean cyclist, Biniam Girmay Hailu, made history this week by becoming the first Black man in history to win a Tour de France stage, claiming victory in Stage 3. He defeated the Englishman Mark Cavendish, who currently holds the record for the most Tour de France stage wins with 35 victories.
The Tour De France is considered one of the most difficult and prestigious sporting competitions in cycling. Stage 3 was 230.8 km long from Plaisance in France to Turin, Italy and Biniam Girmay completed the race in five hours and 26 minutes.
