Read this interesting article by The New Yorker mentioning rich Chinese fleeing to Malta through the MPRP

I missed this article published by The New Yorker in October last year. It is about China’s current economic crisis paired with Xi Jinping’s authoritarianism. An important aspect of China’s current economic crisis is the ever more increasing amount of rich Chinese leaving China to park their wealth abroad.

As The New Yorkey rightly points out, these Chinese are not dissidents, they are simply Chinese citizens who would like to preserve their wealth and many of them may even be members of the Communist Party of China. The article also refers to Wailiang, the arrest of its President and the money laundering system that is used to syphon capital out of China to countries like Malta.

Representatives of Henley and Partners are also quoted in the article.
