When earlier this week Robert Abela told the press that he still intends to nominate Chris Fearne to EU Commissioner if the Court does not indict him over the Vitals and Steward case, he was doing so intentionally to undermine him and his case. Robert Abela knows that Chris Fearne has dropped altogether the prospect of going to Brussels with an ongoing Court case.
As expected by Robert Abela’s team of propaganda hacks, the Nationalist Party and even NGO Repubblika have reacted accordingly by declaring that Robert Abela is once again undermining the judiciary. Indeed he is, and that is exactly the intended effect Robert Abela wants to achieve. Robert Abela wants to scuttle Chris Fearne’s chance of avoiding indictment because Robert Abela wants to avoid an internal showdown with Chris Fearne which he may very well lose.
As one would expect, Chris Fearne is actually furious at Robert Abela’s comments because silence should have been the ideal option. Chris Fearne is trying to lay low as much as possible to wade out of a possible indictment to go back to the Labour Party with stronger authority. For now, his court case remains his top priority before making any moves.
