Strange things are happening in the capital of Myanmar, Naypyidaw as battles surge in the northern Shan state where the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) is battling government forces. Myanmar’s President Myint Swe, who served as a puppet for the military junta, has resigned and been replaced by General Min Aung Hlaing.
Meanwhile, the Ta’ang National Liberation Army is making rapid gains having taken the strategic town of Mogok. Videos below show the TNLA entering Mogok. At the same time, Myanmar’s National Democratic Alliance Army has captured the city of Lashio including a military command HQ. As the military junta lost control in the north, 3 fugitive drug traffickers were extradited to China from the northern border region.
Myanmar is a multi-ethnic state where ethnic minorities have been repressed by consecutive military dictatorships. Myanmar is currently being lead by a military junta since a coup d’etat in 2021 that replaced a democratically elected government.
