It’s not the Last Supper. It’s Dionysus, Archbishop

Paris, a city which has been offending Catholics since 1309, has raised the ire of Archbishop Charles Scicluna about what seemed a recreation of the Last Supper during the Olympics opening ceremony. The Archbishop even sent a letter to the French Ambassador protesting the scene.

The problem with this is that scene had nothing to do with the Last Supper, but was actually a rendition to the Greek god Dionysus. Dionysus is the Greek god of pleasure, wine, festivity and debauchery and is often portrayed in absurd and surreal scenes as portrayed during the Olympic opening ceremony.

Congratulations for the Archbishop of making a fool of himself. Instead of getting offended by what happens in Paris, he should be reserving his sentiments on the much more graver offenses happening in his own country on a daily basis.
