Nigeria reports $2.25 billion of oil imports from Malta

Nigeria has reported $2.25 billion of oil imports from Malta. In 2015 Malta exported at least $117 million of oil to Nigeria.

 

 

 

 

Rumours are abound in the Nigerian Press that Nigerian government officials have an oil blending plant in Malta but Malta has no such oil plants. Malta has no oil refineries.

This refined oil is most probably being bought by a trader based in Malta who is selling it back to Nigeria. The oil may not even be passing through Malta at all.

    The question is if this is Russian oil, in breach of sanctions?

      This is all money laundering. It is common practice for those in the trade. Create paper orders for oil and create paper invoices from different ports to make it look real. There is no oil involved at all. All you need is friendly Bankers to help circulate the money around and launder the funds to their final destination. Indeed what the authorities should be looking for are the bank transactions at local banks not the oil.

    But you need somebody in high places to put a stamp on the export documents. The oil regulation is at the OPM. Maybe Abela can explain.

    It is happening in Hurds bank and Kastilja. The money does touch Malta. Barbados would be a safe place.

    419 scam with somebody in Malta govt stamping paperwork. Money laundering for sure. Dirty fuel. Should be a huge scandal.
