UPDATED: Spanish politicians at Caracas Airport released

UPDATED: The Spanish politicians of the Partido Popular who had arrived in Caracas, yesterday as election observers have been released by the authorities and have been expelled back to Spain.

The Venezuela government has detained ten Spanish politicians from the Partido Popular who arrived in Venezuela, yesterday, to serve as election observers for the presidential election on Sunday. The Spanish politicians were detained at Caracas airport as soon as they landed.

The Venezuelan government is currently executing a crackdown on foreign election observers as they fly to Caracas.
