Nicolás Maduro falsley claims that he won the election

Venezuela President Nicolás Maduro is falsley claiming that he won the presidential election with 51% of the votes. Opposition leader Edmundo González won the elections with more than 60% of the vote. Maduro and his party, PSUV gained between 20 and 23%.

Earlier during the day, Venezuela’s state television Telesur project an infographic with false election results with a tally of 109%.

The government cracked down on foreign election observers right before the vote.
