Oliver Said of Endevio (selling Maltese residency schemes to the Chinese with Labour MP Alex Muscat) has sent his right of reply. I am publishing it in full below.
He is not being truthful on many points, playing the lawyer and picking up on terms and details that ultimately mean nothing. I also predicted he would deny his connection with NexiaBT but there is plenty of evidence that that shows they were close and worked together on numerous business adventures or misadventures. This another example I didn’t previously mention, Oliver Said was the lawyer to a company owned by Nexia BT and Karl Cini and the company was called Wahaat Services Limited. Oliver Said is being disingenuous and most probably even dishonest with his reply, because if he wants to disclose that he didn’t have any official “business” relationship with Nexia BT, he should at least have admitted that he was the lawyer to one of their companies.
Dear Mr. Camilleri,
I am writing to exercise my right of reply concerning the recent articles published on your blog. Under Article 15 of the Media and Defamation Act, 2018, I am entitled to have my reply published in full and unedited as my actions and intentions have been misrepresented in your articles. This right must be availed within one month of the original publication. I trust that you will adhere to the legal requirements and publish my reply accordingly.
Firstly, I wish to express my respect for the essential role that journalists and the media play in a democratic society. The freedom of the press is a cornerstone of Maltese and European law, and I support the right to report, provided it is based on factual and accurate information and avoids speculation for sensationalism.
However, the articles in question contain several inaccuracies that need to be addressed to ensure that your readers receive correct and fair information.
Detailed Clarifications:
Article 1: “Oliver Said was a Nexia BT Partner” (July 7, 2024)
Incorrect Statement Regarding Partnership: The article incorrectly states that I was a partner at Nexia BT. This is categorically false. I was never an employee, partner, nor did I have any managerial or decision-making control at Nexia BT as insinuated.
Misstatement on Capital Knight Limited: The article alleges that Capital Knight Limited was registered in Panama. This is incorrect. Capital Knight Limited was registered in Malta. Moreover, the assertion that Capital Knight Limited was involved in illicit activity is baseless. The company has never traded or conducted any business, as evidenced by its financial records and went into dissolution.
Article 2: “Oliver Said’s ‘Integritas Endevio’ dropped ‘Integritas’ to become only ‘Endevio'”
Reason for Name Change from Integritas Endevio to Endevio: The article speculates about the reason behind the name change of Integritas Endevio to Endevio. While I am under no obligation to justify business decisions, given the context in which the article is written, I am compelled to set the record straight. The rationale was straightforward: Various Malta-based companies that include the branding “Integritas” are ultimately owned by Frederic Villa, who, as reported by international media, is allegedly under investigation.
The listing of Frederic Villa by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) in the United States was unexpected. Neither my business partners nor I were aware of the alleged activities highlighted in the listing, which relate to companies in which we have never had any involvement. Any investigations concern him alone, and the shareholders and management of Endevio unequivocally distance themselves from such events.
I and some other shareholders concluded the equity purchase of two companies and upon concluding the acquisition, the new shareholders, including myself, wanted to clearly distance ourselves from any association with Mr. Villa or the rest of the “Integritas” branded companies for precautionary reasons.
Moreover, the equity holding percentages and current shareholders for Endevio as reported are out of date. Again, this can be verified through the portal of the Malta Business Registry.
Article 3: “Oliver Said wants the article about him on this website taken down from Google search” (July 26, 2024)
Misrepresentation Regarding De-Indexing Requests: The article suggests that requesting Google to de-index previous articles is a “sneaky” action. It is important to clarify that requesting de-indexing is a legitimate right exercised to protect individual reputations from unfounded and damaging claims. Under various EU regulations, individuals have the right to request corrections or removal of inaccuracies where information is incorrect, outdated, or copyrighted. Therefore, I have every right to request such actions to prevent further dissemination of false information.
Incorrect Statement Regarding Partnership (Reiterated): The article once again incorrectly states that I was a partner with Nexia BT. As previously mentioned, this is false. I was never an employee, partner, nor did I have any managerial or decision-making control at Nexia BT as insinuated.
Clarification on Business Operations: This article, as well as others on your blog, references Honorable MP Alex Muscat being a guest speaker at events promoting the Malta Permanent Residency Program. This was actively promoted in the media to ensure transparency. It is imperative to note that all operations conducted by our organisation are fully compliant with the relevant laws and guidelines. The business operates with the highest standards of transparency and legality, ensuring that every action taken is above reproach and adheres to all regulatory requirements.
There are currently 82 licensed practitioners from various professional backgrounds, all dedicated to promoting Maltese investment migration solutions and, consequently, strengthening the Maltese economy, which is an important pillar. This group includes individuals from all walks of life, united in their efforts to enhance the sector. For ease of reference, here are the official links to the relevant authorities where the entire list of licensed practitioners can be found:
Throughout the years, various initiatives, both by the relevant authorities as well as by the agents, were and continue to be organised to actively promote the relevant programs in various overseas jurisdictions. After all, if the target audience is overseas, one would expect such events to happen overseas. In many of these events, there are oftentimes government or authority guest speakers. Invitations to any person to attend such events are extended in full compliance with the relevant guidelines and legislation.
Our business operates with the highest standards of transparency and legality, ensuring that every step taken is above reproach and adheres to all regulatory requirements.
The tone of various articles gives the impression that promoting Malta’s investment migration solutions to high-net-worth individuals is undesirable, which is misleading. This industry is highly regulated, attracts significant investment, and contributes to the economy of Malta, much like other industries such as Financial Services and iGaming.
While there is a pending case being heard at the European Court of Justice on the promotion of citizenship by investment solutions, there is broad consensus in Malta on residency programs, which have existed in some form since the 1960s under various administrations.
Constructive criticism and debate from all stakeholders on how investment migration solutions can be further improved to enhance the economy at large are important, provided that such discussions are based on factual information and not scaremongering based on bias or hidden agendas. As long as activities are legal, personal preferences or political stances do not alter their legitimacy.
In the fast-paced world of business, it is often challenging to foresee the future actions or investigations of counterparties. While it is easy to critique decisions with the benefit of hindsight, it is important to understand that we have always conducted our business with integrity and adherence to the highest standards.
Our commitment has always been to operate within the legal framework and to ensure all our business activities are transparent and lawful.
In conclusion, I respectfully request that the necessary corrections be made to the published articles to reflect the factual accuracy of the statements. I trust that this will provide your readers with a clearer and more truthful understanding of the matters at hand.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Yours sincerely,
Oliver Said
