The government is making a mess in its newly issued controls over third-country nationals employment. Many third-country nationals who have been refused work or asked to leave by the new measures paid hefty fees to their brokers to come to Malta and work. These fees start from €5,000 per trip and the people paying these fees often go into debt to be able to pay them.
The Labour government is literally ruining the lives of many third-country nationals. Does anyone from the supposedly socialist party have any empathy left to people who are downtrodden and vulnerable?
Prime Minister Robert Abela is on a populist rampage on this issue addressing it in this most short-sighted and opportunistic manner.
The problems with abuse, trafficking and exploitation wouldn’t have been there if we had a decent minimum wage, rule of law and a successful war against organised crime of all kind. The business of the importation of third-country nationals is rife with exploitation, rent-seeking and many corrupt individuals from the Labour Party like Charlon Gouder are even involved in this business. It’s wild out there and Labour has created a system of extreme exploitation. Instead of undoing this system, it is making it even worse by punishing these third-country nationals.
