Chris Bonett is a very representative example of the Labour Party delegates. He is a deep Labour Party man having cut his teeth in student politics and having dedicated most of his life to the Labour Party. A young socialist from G?ira from humble working-class origins, Chris Bonett breathes and lives in the Labour Party.
He remembers very well the period when Jason Micallef was Secretary-General. He knows Alex Agius Saliba well (back then It-Tander), and has been equally trusted by all Labour Party leaders during his political career. Basically, you can’t get more Labour Party than this. I’d put him in the same category with Glenn Bedingfield.
Chris Bonett is also one of the current Labour Party rebels who secretly desires to have a better leadwer for the sake of the future of his Party and his country. Yet, Chris Bonett, who suffers from PTSD symptomps from Alfred Sant’s day, will probably give his life to ensure that Jason Micallef doesn’t return to the Labour Party’s top brass.
Jason Micallef’s candidacy for the Labour Party’s Deputy-Leadership has developed into a blessing in disguise. Finally, after four years of theatre and bullshitting us, Robert Abela and the Labour Party have realised that apologising and defending Joseph Muscat didn’t pay dividends: instead it put them in a very messy situation where Joseph Muscat is still strong in the Party. If Robert Abela had any strategic and/or common sense, he would have taken on Joseph Muscat the moment he took power for the sake of the country and the Labour Party. Instead, Robert Abela turned on to Chris Fearne’s camp, and purged people like myself, who were serving as strong opponents to Joseph Muscat’s return in the Labour Party.
Now, finally, they are rallying against Joseph Muscat and for a good cause: after giving him four years to strengthen his position, accumulate more resources and build more connections. I’m a Master Strategist. Talk about Devil’s pacts.
As always, Supreme Leader is now confounded on what to do next. He needs his Labour stalwarts to rally behind him to fight Joseph Muscat, only that by now, he has alienated most of the Labour stalwarts to the extent that they are not even very excited to be associated with him. The situation for Robert Abela can’t even be worse. All that remains to have it worse for him is for some journalist to release another bombshell scandal (which I will be doing with my next book in October). Also, did I mention “deep party”? I definitely did, but that’s a topic for my next book.
With Jason Micallef as Deputy-Leader of the Labour Party, the Nationalist Party will be handed a free victory in the next general elections. If the Nationalist Party was smart and sophisticated, it would conduct a covert campaign in support of Jason Micallef: just like Joseph Muscat and Keith Schembri did to PN when they supported Adrian Delia against the Gozitan, Chris Said. The Nationalist Party would have to prop-up Jason Micallef as a capable Labour Party organiser. On the other hand, the Labour Party may probably very well use this strategy in the inverse manner, by explaining to its delegates that Jason Micallef would give the Nationalist Party an election victory. Note, that most of them don’t need to have this explained to them, and they know it already, but I’m sure that the Labour Party won’t be taking any risks.
In conclusion, as a previous delegate myself, it gives me some sort of vindication and pleasure to see the Labour Party leader, stalwarts and delegates rally together for a good cause. Nature is healing.
