The fall-guy for the Prime Minister’s corruption: Minister Chris Bonett

The fall guy for the Prime Minister’s corruption over the Ta’ Qali gravel case is the Minister for Transport, Chris Bonett. To many outside politics, Chris Bonett is a new face, but he has actually breathed and lived the Labour Party throughout his life and has risen in the ranks of the party and politics gradually until successfully becoming elected to parliament.

However, Chris Bonett, runs a ministry much larger than himself because as it has commonly happened under previous Labour Party administrations, the top party and government leadership intrude into the operations of this large ministry to promote and execute their very often corrupt interests. I would say that Chris Bonett is in a very similar position to Minister Ian Borg when he was Transport Minister. Chris Bonett today is being compelled to justify the corruption of the Prime Minister within the entities of his ministry.

Here, the Transport Minister is replying to questions by a Times of Malta journalist – the same questions which Jason Micallef refused to respond. Jason Micallef was the actual executor of the Prime Minister’s corruption. Note that Chris Bonett, previously pronounced himself publicly against Jason Micallef’s nomination for the Deputy-Party Leader post.
