The Embassies to Libya of the United States, France, Britain, Italy and Germany have issued a statement urging the Libyan parties to hold off clashes and collaborate on security. The statement read:
“Given the real concerns about border security along Libya’s southern border, we urge the security forces in the east and west to seize this opportunity to deepen consultation and cooperation in order to implement effective measures to secure the border and protect Libya’s sovereignty.”
A military convoy from Misrata traveled to Tripoli to augment the GNU forces and new military road blocks were placed around the city. Clashes were reported in Tajoura in the East of Tripoli, but are not being considered as a threat to the Western capital.
Earlier this week, clashes in the South-West of Libya between the forces of the GNU and the LNA triggered a mobilisation response by both parties.
