The Labour Party amends its statute paving the way for Anakin Skywalker’s leadership ambitions

Labour Party delegates raised no objections yesterday as a motion to amend the Labour Party’s statute was approved during a closed-door Extraordinary Conference. The approved amendment allows MEPs and MPs to contest the post of Deputy Leader of the Labour Party.

Alex Agius Saliba, who supports the rehabilitation of Joseph Muscat and represents his interests within the Labour Party, will be contesting the Deputy Leadership race and is also earmarked for a seat in parliament. Randolph Debattista will be resigning his seat Parliament to take on the role of Ambassador to Geneva.

Robert Abela’s preference for Alex Agius Saliba is intended to capture the core Labour Party voters; however, given Alex Agius Saliba’s close ties to Joseph Muscat, he will also alienate more moderate voters.

    After the Labour party was transformed into a latrine for all manner of opportunists, turncoats and incompetents. Now it’s statute has been transformed into a roll of toilet paper which is periodically modified to fit somebody’s arsehole. At this point we do not need lackeys, proxies or sychophants to fill the role of deputy leader party affairs. We need an independent assertive, strong willed individual not only to strenghten and improve the party structures but to keep in check the dysfunctional cabinet members and the CEOs of government institutions who are failing to address the nation’s and citizens’ needs dismally. We need a deputy leader who with the backing of local Labour party committees and the delegates is not afraid to speak out and address the shortcomings and abuse of Ministers and their annointed ones.
