Pakistanis worldwide have been celebrating their athlete’s world-recording breaking success at the Paris Olympics. Arshad Nadeem, who won the first ever Gold Medal for Pakistan in Athletics at the Paris Olympics, was welcomed home by jubilant crowds. He won Gold in track and field section with a record-breaking javelin throw of 92.97 metres.
Arshad Nadeem grew up in the village of Mian Chunnu whose residents supported his athletic career. He received very little state support and had to raise funds from his village to buy a new javelin to train with for the Paris Olympics.
