Maybe, after sitting idle and overseeing the worst rule of law crisis in Malta since the 1980s, Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri could finally do a great service to the nation by standing up and, for once, doing something for his Maltese compatriots.
A Maltese citizen suffering from mental health problems may be lost forever for a stupid mistake he may have made. This is one of those times when one’s socialist background, religious sense of forgiveness and empathy may be triggered. After all, the Labour Party has been reserving these feelings for its worst criminals, so for once, it may be a good idea to apply these characteristics and values where it actually mattered.
Extradition issues are the responsibility of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Byron Camilleri has endangered our society by keeping within us a dangerous Libyan warlord, who came to Malta to sell cocaine, broke bail conditions on multiple conditions in acts of violence and aggression, and still, he is allowed to live freely among us.
Yet, very prompt is the Ministry to extradite its own mentally sick citizens for stupid crimes, it was supposed to prevent itself.
