Gentle reminder that the Cabinet Secretary doesn’t have a driver and drives a Toyota Vitz

It’s saddening to see different people that I admire being at loggerheads with each other. Ryan Spagnol opened a libel case against Jason Azzopardi to absolve himself of claims that he had anything to do with ID Card racket – he worked at Identity Malta before the racket made its run.

Ryan Spagnol is victim to a smear campaign by Joseph Muscat’s men, and the late revelations that he was caught “drunk driving” aren’t helping him. I know his case and although not justyfing it, it wasn’t serious. Ryan Spagnol exceeded the limit having had around 41 mgs of alcohol in his blood and he wasn’t actually drunk – he was going home after having dinner with his partner in Valletta.

I’d like to put some contest to all of this controversy, however. Ryan Spagnol occupies one of the highest positions in the government. He is the Cabinet Secretary. Ryan Spagnol goes to work every day with his second-hand Toyota Vitz that he bought around five-years ago. If you’d go to Casti;le’s parking area on a weekday, you’ll find the large black ministerial and executive cars lined up next to each other with an old and dirty Vitz between them.

I hope this context helps to understand who this person really is.

  1. It’s irrelevant the where and how Mark, the fella was nearly TWICE above the legal limit.
Would you hand a dangerous weapon, say a firearm, to somebody with his alcohol level?
Because drunk driving kills, and more often than not, it’s an extraneous person who end’s up paying the price!

Interesting musing. How much over the limit can I be if I drive a fiat punto 1995, dirty after southern rain. Thanks

  3. With all due respect, the fact that he drives a Toyota Vitz is irrelevant. The question you need to ask is whether Spagnol is entitled to a fully-expensed car and if he opted to take the car allowance rather than having a new car.

  4. So? He should taken a taxi.
