Chun Wang stopped using an OFAC Filter for Russian transactions after protests by bitcoiners

Chun Wang‘s F2Pool is still being used by Russian miners after Chun Wang removed an OFAC transaction filter that seemingly blocked transactions from Russia.

After the filter was discovered by several crypto sleuths, bitcoiners protested about its censorship. Chun Wang defended himself with a tweet he later deleted saying he blocked transactions from dictators, criminals and terrorists. He then removed the transaction filter and deleted his tweet.

Russian miners are still using his F2Pool.

Note, that the transaction filtering tool he used doesn’t necessarily block all transactions from Russian miners. Bitcoin addresses are anonymous and the volume of Russian transactions are hidden among the large layer of transactions of his pool.

Chun Wang is providing Russians a service to break US and European sanctions and basically, providing a US Dollar lifeline for Russians.
