Labour Ministers should grow up. There’s nothing personal about an Inquiry.

Labour Ministers should grow up and stop sneering and acting like children when journalists press them on serious matters. There’s nothing personal about civil society demanding an inquiry into the death of retired police officer Stephen Mangion. Mangion died in the waiting room of Mater Dei’s Emergency Ward after complaining of chest pains. He had been sent there alone by a local health clinic.

No system is perfect, and it’s not inherently political to have higher expectations and to ensure the system is efficient in addressing all emergencies equally. If Stephen Mangion could have been saved the inquiry will prompt further improvement in the health care system. The government should be addressing the issue rapidly and as one of its main priorities if the National Health Service is failing to address emergency cases due to the increasing demand.
