Emerging politicians with no Party leadership and vision

Just because the Nationalist Party has made one commendable move during a very long Summer slumber, we still see the Nationalist Party’s leadership failing to provide any concrete direction to the Nationalist Party or its vision for the country.

When the Nationalist Party presented in Parliament a very comprehensive reform to the Justice system and the Criminal Code, it showed it clear terms it knew what it was doing and where it wanted the country to go. What does it want to do?

Does it want to discontinue the Passport scheme or will we remain the Mediterranean real-estate junk-food version of Dubai? The Nationalist Party leader has adopted a “speak less, the better” strategy, but he is not playing a game, and the should regularly be explaining what’s wrong with the country and how is he going to fix it, something he rarely has been doing lately.

  1. What I see really stupid from the PN is that as the situation stands with the state of the PL it takes almost nothing for the PN to look good and give that vibe that it stands a good chance of winning the next election, yet they as you (Mark) very rightly put it, they are in a slumber.

The PN is clearly devoid of any coherent political strategy. There is no concerted effort to capitalise on the prevailing anger and to expose incompetence. Reaction to daily developments including scandals is often very late, low key and ephemeral, simply labouring through the motions instead of going for Labour?s jugular. Sometimes one even wonders whether the PN actually aspires to be in government. The de facto Opposition is made up of Jason Azzopardi, Robert Aquilina, Repubblika and Arnold Cassola. Bernard Grech has turned out to be a huge disappointment and has built upon Adrian Delia?s achievement of rendering the PN largely irrelevant. The EP electoral success was due to the Metsola – Casa tandem with the local council outcome being more reflective of the current state of affairs.

Inaction by the leadership of the PN has created a nationwide spirit of helplessness. The PL corruption and abuse has become institutionalised as a result.

  4. What the PN is going through, unfortunately, is the result of having opted for leaders without any political experience whatsoever. (Outsiders). Experience is a must in life, more so in politics.

It simply did not make any sense to go for inexperienced outsiders.

However, I am convinced that such scenario was nothing but part of the high-jack, together with that of the independent institutions, by the evil ‘architects’ of the diabolic roadmap.
