Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was in Ankara, Turkey, yesterday, signing new energy and trade deals with Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan. Egypt also signed agreements for new military and drone purchases from Turkey and appealed to Turkey to mediate with Ethiopia in its dispute over the Grand Renaissance Dam. Both Turkey and Egypt praised Somalia’s unity, as both are allies of Somalia.
Egypt has sent military hardware, officers and troops to Somalia as of last week in a dispute with Ethiopia over its Grand Renaissance Dam. Egypt and Turkey side with opposing government factions in Libya with Egypt siding with Haftar and Turkey siding with the Tripoli government.
