In a press conference, Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan has stated that Russia should return back Crimea to Ukraine. Erdogan cited the Crimean Tatars as the main reason for Turkey’s position, saying that Tatars are Turkish descendants.
In the recent past, Erdogan has described Vladimir Putin as his friend and after Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, Turkey became a major European sanction-breaker as it turned into hub for European exports to Russia.
