Ethiopian forces take over airports in southern Somalia

Various reports have confirmed that the Ethiopian National Defence Force (ENDF) has taken over airports in southern Somalia in the Gedo region of the Jubaland and Hirshabelle states. Ethiopia has made this move to prevent the further airlifting of Egyptian army forces into Somalia. The reports can be read here and here.

Meanwhile, the Ethiopian forces in the Amhara and Tigray regions keep suffering heavy losses against the Fano rebels, a separatist movement of the Amhara people in north Ethiopia that is fighting the Ethiopian forces. Clashes between Fano militants and the Ethiopian forces have escalated ever since Egyptian army officers arrived in Somalia.
