The US government and state entities such as Department of Justice have been finalizing various investigations on Russian disinformation campaigns in the United States tied to the Russian security services. Earlier in September, the DOJ has indicted several individuals including podcasters and social media influencers who received up to $10 million by the Russian government to conduct propaganda and discrimination campaigns on behalf of the Russian government. Below are some examples of Russian propaganda that was successfully disseminated through the US press by the Russian government’s operations.
Last week, the US government has revealed new information claiming that Russian-state TV channel, “Russia Today” is embedded with the Russian security services and actively works with the Russian security services to provide them with information. RT has also helped the Russian security services raise money for weapons for the Russian army in Ukraine. A major US investigation about RT and other Russian propaganda influences is earmarked to be published this week.
Local politician who failed to get elected in the last election, Evarist Bartolo is on the payroll of foreign dictatorships to speak out against Malta’s foreign policy, and has also publicly claimed that he wants RT to be brought back in Europe.
