Crime loves football and fast-food

More on the businesses that serve as parking spots for illicit money. Football, along with the catering industry is another very popular industry for crime and criminals, so much so that Joseph Muscat has found his new home there.

Elton Anthony Borg, currently charged with assaulting a police-officer has a lifetime ban on taking official roles in football, but he and his friends still seem to be involved in football via their catering businesses. This is Christian Mansueto’s snack bar also available at Ħamrun’s football stadium.  Apparently it is located at the Ħamrun Spartans Nursery, which is an extension of the original stadium.

Elton Borg and Christian Mansueto seem to be keen supporters of Joseph Portelli as well having been seen with him multiple times, but these are not them in the photo above and below.

Knuckle-draggers. Neanderthals. Maltese football fans. Same term, different spellings.

    1. No need to malign football fans in general. Visiting a football stadium over the weekend is a fun and harmless activity (I have done it a few times, although I have no great love for the game or for any team).

In Malta, tickets are also cheap, and the league tends to remain competitive all season. Pity not more of Malta’s football fans (who spend so much money on cable television and even visiting stadia abroad) do not spend more afternoons supporting local teams.

  2. Allow me to re-finish the last sentence of your first paragraph with a new ending: .”..so much so, that Joseph Muscat has found his new home there, and the former Opposition Leader Adrian Delia came from that world too.”

Flashback for those whose memories were wiped out with a couple of court victories against the government: In 2018, Leader Adrian Delia took up the mantle of Shadow Minister of Justice as well as removed Simon Busuttil as Shadow Minister of Good Governance, a role which he also took upon himself.

That this shady wheeler and dealer (as exposed by Daphne Caruana Galizia) who was supposedly standing up to the rotten Joseph Muscat got to concentrate all power of the Opposition on justice in his own hands shows how sick Maltese politics became in recent years. Only thanks to brave journalists, civil society groups and a few decent politicians has Malta’s democracy survived.

  3. […] Elton Borg, owner of catering establishments in Hamrun was banned for life from football for match-fixing and is currently being charged in court for attacking two police officers in Hamrun. He is being charged along with Christian Mansueto also owner of several catering establishments, including a bar at the Hamrun Spartans stadium complex. […]
