Note the unreconcilable difference between the kind of position Alex Agius Saliba, Daniel Attard and their new friend are taking on Israel, with their position about Russia. Alex Agius Saliba has taken up Russia’s foreign policy and using its designated talking points for foreign politicians when he says that we should not provoke Russia, that we should talk aboutย peace in terms of Ukrainian and European capitulation. He even condemned Opposition politicians for protesting in front of the Russian Embassy,ย alluding to provocations and whatnot.
Alex Agius Saliba, like his communist friends, takes a very different approach regarding Israel, where they outright condemn it for its crimes more often than any other country or regime committing any number of crimes. Russia struck nurseries and children orphanages among their civilian targets this month, and you don’t hear them talking about that.
However, what really gives away the foreign element in the letter they signed with a small group of communists and left-wingers is the part that says “provoking Iran”, which is a dead giveaway for an Iranian regime talking point. The Iranian regime has technically conducted and abetted numerous war crimes across the Near East, such as in Syria and Yemen, and controls one of the largest external and international terrorist paramilitary networks in the world. Among the many things you can condemn Israel for, “provoking Iran” isn’t one of them, especially considering that Iran cannot be further provoked because its capacity for reaction is minimal, at worst, defeated. It’s not that they haven’t tried, in fact, they try too hard, but only against those they are sure they can kill and defeat.
