The Justice Minister at the Parliament Media Forum: “We need to punish those who abuse free speech”

When it comes to press reform, the Labour government’s only and current aim is to retrict free speech and punish journalists. Readers of this article should not illude themselves that the government moved the anti-SLAPP reforms willingly: they were introduced due to an EU directive.

Once again, the Justice Minister is using the excuse of “online bullying” to propose measures in parliament that will muzzle the press and restrict free speech. This is the same deceptive argument being made by the incoming EU Commissioner for Culture to propose an anti-speech directive.

Recently, Prime Minister Robert Abela made some very authoritative comments on those who “abuse free speech”.

Labour’s hatred for the press will continue to grow as it loses the support of the electorate, and eventually, Labour will blame the press for its downfall.

Abuse is Abuse is Abuse and ought to be punished.

    Sincerely
    Hyper Vigorous Abuse Slapper
