On top of receiving military aid from the United States, Israel has a profitable defense industry and sells weapons to Azerbaijan

The United States provided Israel with up to $17.9 billion in military aid since the start of the war in Gaza last year, with most of this aid being of offensive and lethal nature including heavy bombs. All the while Israel received generous military from the US, it also exported up to $13 billion worth of weapons by its own defense industry in 2023 alone.

One of Israel’s main clients of its defense industry is Azerbaijan, which used Israeli weaponry to conquer Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and displace 100,000 Armenians from their homes. This weapons trade is facilitated by a very close relationship between the two states, and Israel doesn’t mind selling some of its most sophisticated weaponry to the Azeris. Israeli’s defense industry also sold weapons to Myanmar (despite an embargo) and Russia (despite sanctions).

Below is the comical act of Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu when he promised that he will free the hostages sooner if the United States provided more military aid to Israel. This was in last July.
