Following the publication of the collective agreement between the Malta Union of Teachers and the Ministry of Education, I have confirmed with several public school employees, some of whom have come forward themselves, that their collective agreements have been withheld from them. These employees include cleaners and technicians who recently signed agreements with the Ministry of Education without union representation. Some of these workers may also fall under the recently signed public workers’ collective agreement with the General Workers’ Union, but even the GWU has not published or circulated the collective agreement it signed with the government.
This appears to be the current administration’s practice: withholding collective agreements from employees and preventing their publication.
