A 6-year-old girl is at risk of dying after suffering serious injuries while playing near her home in Triq Robert Mifsud Bonnici, Lija, Sunday afternoon.
The incident, reported to police around 10:00 p.m., involved two young girls playing with an iron structure in a nearby basketball court. For unknown reasons, the structure collapsed, falling onto the younger child.
Relatives immediately rushed the injured girl to Mater Dei Hospital, where she was later certified to have suffered serious injuries.
The 7-year-old girl who was with her at the time was unharmed.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are continuing their inquiries.
