NGOs hold a protest against proposed Villa Rosa Project

Up to 11 NGOs got together to protest against the planned Villa Rosa development in Paceville. Local Plans are being changed by the government with little push-back by the Opposition to accommodate the development of Garnet Investments by Anton Camilleri (Tal-Franciz).

Some Opposition MPs attended the protest including Karol Aquilina and Albert Buttigieg, but Opposition Leader Bernard Grech is currently being held to scrutiny for allegedly backing the project.

Villa Rosa is a 1920s art nouveau mansion surrounded by a green area that is earmarked for a massive tower development of hotels and luxury residences.

The organisations that took part in the protest were:

Azzjoni: Tuna Artna Lura
BirdLife Malta
Din l-Art ฤฆelwa
Flimkien gฤงal Ambjent Aฤงjar
Friends of the Earth Malta
Gฤงawdix
Moviment Graffitti
Nature Trust Malta
Ramblers’ Association Malta
The Archaeological Society Malta
