Fondazione Falcone launches first international hub in Malta with dedication to anti-mafia legacy

The renowned Falcone Foundation (Fondazione Falcone) is set to establish its first international hub in Malta, marking a significant milestone in the island’s cultural and diplomatic landscape.

Located at 115 Santa Margerita Street, Siggiewi, this new center will serve as a diplomatic and cultural base, providing the international community and youth with access to diverse cultural, social, and educational initiatives. The Foundation aims to actively contribute to Malta’s ongoing civil reform efforts, inspired by the resilience of Maltese civil society and the legacy of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

The Siggiewi headquarters will honour the memories of Giovanni Falcone, Paolo Borsellino, Daphne Caruana Galizia, and all victims of organized crime.

Representing the Foundation in Malta will be Notary Robert Aquilina, a prominent advocate for truth and justice following Caruana Galizia’s assassination. Professor Maria Falcone, sister of the late Judge Giovanni Falcone, who was assassinated by the Cosa Nostra in 1992, will be present for the inauguration, joined by the Foundation’s founding members, Vincenzo Di Fresco and Alessandro de Lisi. Their visit from the 8th to the 11th of November, signifies a historic moment, as this Malta branch will be the first international outpost of this leading Italian social and cultural institution against the mafia.

The Maltese branch of the Falcone Foundation will be officially inaugurated on Sunday, 10th November, with a ceremony led by the President of Malta Myriam Spiteri Debono and a blessing from Archbishop Charles Scicluna.

The public is invited to join in the event from 6:15 p.m. onwards in Siggiewi, underscoring Malta’s commitment to justice and anti-mafia reform in solidarity with the global community.
