Charles Aquilina of Bormla SC demonstrated his prowess on Saturday, dominating the Veteran category at the Subbuteo Table Football International Open of Flanders in Belgium. Aquilina clinched the title in a thrilling 3-2 final against England’s Bob Varney, having previously overcome Belgium’s Massart in the semifinal. He then emerged victorious from a field of 44 skilled competitors.
The momentum continued for Aquilina and Bormla SC on Sunday, as the team completed a remarkable clean sweep in the team event, taking gold without conceding a single match. Bormla SC, led by world-ranked No. 1 Aquilina, claimed a 2-0 victory over Eugies of Belgium and a 4-0 win over EPL Ireland in Group 1.

The team then sailed through the quarterfinals with a 4-0 win over Belgium’s Hennuyer C, bested Spain’s Tiburones 3-0 in the semifinal, and defeated Caen of France 2-0 in the final. Their flawless performance crowned Bormla SC with team gold, marking a memorable weekend of double victories.
