Malta scores higher than the UAE in order and security but scores low on justice and corruption according to the World Justice Report

According to the recently released World Justice Report on Rule of Law, Malta scored very high on order and security but low on corruption and justice. Malta ranked 10th in order and security, with the report noting that Maltese citizens generally do not settle grievances through violence. Malta even outperformed the United Arab Emirates in this category.

Malta scored poorly on corruption, ranking 40th, behind Italy and ahead of Cyprus. In civil justice, Malta ranked 48th, following Chile and preceding Greece, while in criminal justice, it placed 28th, ranking worse than Italy. Malta’s overall standing in Rule of Law was 30th, below Costa Rica but above Cyprus.
