Fratelli d’Italia MEP with the European Conservatives and Reformists Group, Nicola Procaccini asked the Spanish Minister to explain how Spain has become the biggest importer of Russian gas. Minister Ribera didn’t provide any answers to these questions saying only that Europe needed to decarbonise without providing many explanations. On Russian gas she just said that “it is difficult”. France’s EPP MEP François-Xavier Bellamy criticised her government’s record on rule of law and for attacking the Spanish judiciary. The room burst out in laughter as she replied by saying that “Europe has a varied and diverse political discourse”.
