A 26-year-old man has been arrested by the police after he was investigated for selling counterfeit goods, online activities and money laundering.
An inquiry was initiated after the police received an anonymous tip about a TikTok account. Allegedly, the account promoted fake branded watches for sale.
Additional probes showed that the same person was also advertising the illegal application of beacon lights and sirens on private cars. The suspect was taken into custody while in the act of committing an offence, that is, driving a vehicle with switched beacon lights and sirens. The vehicle was unregistered and unlicensed.
There was also a raid on the home of the suspect, which revealed a wide array of counterfeit watches, handbags and jewellery, beacon lights and sirens. Several cans of pepper spray presumably meant for sale were also confiscated together with significant cash. In addition, blank credit cards, commonly linked to credit card cloning were uncovered at the site.
The inquiry also revealed the suspect’s alleged role in distributing Euros through cryptocurrency transactions.
The man had a court appearance today, Wednesday, at 11:45 am in front of Magistrate Rachel Montebello for charges connected to these activities.
