In another exclusive story in the Maltese Herald, we can reveal that Floriana FC is facing financial challenges in its operations. These revelations were made yesterday in an Extraordinary General Meeting called by Club President Johan Said and lasting from 7PM to around 930PM.
Although reports in the media had originally described the meeting as an affirmation for the current committee, things seem quite different. Sources who attended the meeting and spoke on condition of anonymity indicated that the meeting was more about the club’s financial situation, which appears to be quite difficult.
Former club treasurer Edward Spiteri left the club and the financial report that was presented to members was ‘amateurish’ according to some sources. There seems to have been no discussion on the way forward at this point but difficulties of a financial nature appear to be confirmed.
This news portal had already revealed that the Floriana FC media committee resigned en masse a few weeks ago. The persons who resigned include Ryan Agius, Malta Premier League representative, Ruud Buhagiar, Head of Supporters and Mark Mifsud, Head of Media.ย It appears that there was some sort of argument with the committee on the way forward in this area. At present, the committee is taking care of media activities.
We will continue following this story so stay tuned to The Maltese Herald.
