Future of Black Gold Pub uncertain as Michael Stivala sweeps in to buy a large tract of land in the area from the Catholic Church

The future of the Black Gold Saloon (Pub) on The Strand in Sliema is uncertain, as the Stivala Group, owned by Michael Stivala, is negotiating with the Catholic Church to purchase a large tract of land adjacent to the pub for a new apartment complex. The Black Gold Saloon is located on a different tract of land but the Stivala Group also intends to make an offer for the land in question to include it as part of its new development.
