France backs down on ICC warrant against Israeli Prime Minister and says won’t respect it

France has backed down on the arrest warrants by the International Criminal Court against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his ex-Defense Minister Yoav Gallant citing “legal immunity” of states not parties to the Rome statute. The full statement can be read here.

The statement by France on the ICC warrants against the Israeli Prime Minister contradicts its previous statement on the arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin which declared that France was to continue to lend its support to the international courts to ensure that those who committed war crimes in Ukraine are held accountable.
