Malta’s GDP in Q3 up by 7.9% compared to last year’s

Latest NSO figures show that Malta’s GDP growth came at 4.9% for Q3 at around €5.8 billion, and 7.9% higher than last year’s €5.4 billion. Economic growth was boosted by industry and exports as well as higher consumption levels while services growth declined compared to last year’s third quarter. The economy is also being buoyed by increasing government expenditure but tourism and catering also seem to be contributing to the growth.

This year, Malta received a record number of tourists in its first three quarters with a total of 2,766,584 tourists.

Public debt is at €10.01 billion and around 49% of Malta’s GDP ratio.
