Yesterday the world witnessed the reopening of the Notre-Dame cathedral inaugurating the restoration process that started after the tragic fire incident in April 2019.
The President of The European Parliament Roberta Metsola along withPresident-elect Donald Trump and President Emmanuel Macron were among the dignitaries who attended the event.
The cathedral originally came into existence in 1163 and after all the hard work put into its restoration it once again shows the exquisite Gothic architecture that has deep roots in European culture and history.
For President Metsola, the occasion was special as she described as “a historic moment to witness the majestic Cathedral rise proudly again from the ashes after an impressive French restoration.”
The Maltese Member of the European Parliament, who was representing the EU Parliament at the event, spoke about the artistic combination of not only religion and history that sits at the heart of Notre Dame, but most importantly its cultural and historical importance to Europe.
The event was a celebratory appreciation of all the individuals who helped on the rebuilding of one of the most iconic symbols of Paris.
