Sergey Lavrov condemns Syrian rebels as terrorists: Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is all smiles

In Doha, Russia’s foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov condemned the Syrian revolution as a “geopolitical experiment by terrorists” following Russia’s usual line of disinformation of condemning opposing revolutions or governments that turn their back against Russia.

Sergey Lavrov made the remarks at the Doha Forum which was planned in advance and has no relationship to Syria, but foreign ministers have gathered in Doha to discuss the Syrian situation.

Syrian activists present at the Doha Forum claimed that Syria should start a process of democratisation where justice, human rights and free speech are guaranteed. Syrian rebels have just liberated Syria from the Assad regime and Bashar al-Assad has fled the country. Syrian rebel commander Abu Mohammad al-Jolani promised institutional governance.

Qatar’s Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani was all smiles as he met Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, while Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart carried heavier facial expressions.
