Someone tipped me off about this clip, which was part of a program on the Labour Party’s TV station called Bil-Fatti (hilarious as facts are the last thing that will ever come out of ONE). It shows the lawyer and brother to the Magistrate Joe Mifsud, Mario Mifsud making a reference to me. The discussion is one of the Labour Party’s favourite topics: how to limit free speech.
Mario Mifsud is currently being charged in court for biting another man’s nose.
Now, speaking about cowardice. Mario Mifsud didn’t say these words to my face when he met me by coincidence at the reception of the Police Headquarters in Floriana. He was sitting down next to his client when I walked in and approached the receptionist. As soon as he saw me, he stood up, walked up to me, pulled out his hand and greeted me with “Hello, Mark Camilleri, I don’t agree with everything you say but I really like your work because I’m a big fan of journalism. I’m the lawyer.”
I didn’t say anything to him until he finished speaking, at which point I thanked him politely and went about my business. Of course, I knew who he was, but there was nothing I could say to him: it’s not as if I could reciprocate by telling him how much I loved his work as a lawyer defending criminals in court.
To my advantage, I think my nose is safe enough with him. If he can’t say what he really feels about me to my face, I don’t think he has the courage to try and bite my nose (weird tastes, I know).
Note, that the slander against me on ONE has been ongoing on a regular basis and I don’t have the opportunity to go on their propaganda channel to defend myself. Neither can I do this on the public broadcaster which acts as a Labour Party propaganda unit.
