In an early morning operation, Ħamrun police in conjunction with the Anti-Drug Squad arrested two men in further efforts to combat drug trafficking.
The suspects, 31 from Bormla and 26 years from Valletta, respectively, were arrested after police acted on information that suggested they were trafficking drugs in Triq Manuel Magri, Ħamrun.
Surveillance started by police, upon information that the suspects frequented the area. At around 7:00am, police observed both men arriving on location in a car and on a motorcycle. Immediately, they were stopped and searched, leading to the discovery of over 100 packets believed to be cocaine.
Further searches at an apartment belonging to one of the suspects revealed various documents. A related search in another apartment in Mosta, also belonging to one of the suspects, uncovered more packets suspected to contain cocaine and heroin and approximately €20,000 in cash.
Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia is leading the inquiry, while police investigations continue.
