Earlier today, Repubblika held a press conference in front of the Police Headquarters, protesting against yesterday’s court order issued by Magistrate Nadine Lia, which instructed the police to reveal the identity of the whistleblower who leaked details of the investigation to Repubblika. Repubblika had received leaks showing that the Police were reluctant to prosecute and investigate those involved in Pilatus Bank.
Repubblika has opened a case challenging the Police Commissioner for refusing to arraign and charge the Pilatus Bank officials who were investigated over attempts to launder the money of top government officials of Joseph Muscat’s administration. The case appeared in front of Magistrate Nadine Lia who so far has taken the side of the Police.
Magistrate Nadine Lia was previously married to the son of Pawlu Lia, with Pawlu Lia being one of Joseph Muscat’s lawyers.
Repubblika also accused the Police Commissioner and the Attorney-General of protecting the criminals behind Pilatus Bank for failing to prosecute those involved behind Pilatus Bank.
